It was at about 8:30 am when my family and I arrived at Malta's International Airport, eager to start our trip to Interlaken, Switzerland.  The plane was scheduled to take off at 10 o'clock however we learned that there was going to be a delay.  In the meantime, we went shopping at the duty-free shops and waited anxiously for take off ........

The plane took off at 2:30 after the long delay and we arrived at Zurich airport at about 4:30 pm.  We immediately went to the Information desk and got all the necessary information.  We had to take the train in order to arrive at Interlaken....the adventure had finally begun!!  The train arrived and during the trip we could see amazing sights...mountains and greenery everywhere!! I wondered whether this was a dream or reality...everything was so beautiful and it was so picturesque...This place reminded me of the pictures I usually see in fairy tale books....

After three hours we arrived at the hotel which was also very very nice.  We rested a bit, but we were too excited to stay in the hotel for a long time...and soon we were walking around the village of Interlaken.  It was amazingly beautiful..  The hotels and houses there, are all decorated with flowers.  Our eyes met an amazingly beautiful recreation park full of flowers... The scene was really breathtaking!!

As one says, time flies, and this could be said for our holiday!!  We were having so much fun that time flew quickly.  On the day following our arrival, there was the Swiss National Day and we saw a wonderful parade.  There were festivities all day long and people were seen celebrating everywhere.  There was such a feeling of happiness!!

On the third day, we decided to go on the highest mountain the Jungfrau (Top of Europe)  The weather was fine ...it was sunny but as the train went higher and higher we were forced by the weather to wear our jackets.  The air was getting thinner...The trip was indeed enjoyable.  Wherever we looked we could see mountains, flowers..greenery everywhere and we could also see many cows grazing.  One surely can't forget the famous story of Heidi when watching these marvellous views!!  During this trip the train passed through many tunnels...we were passing from underneath the mountain...as the time went by it was getting colder and colder...We finally arrived at the top!!  We got down from the train and went into a very beautiful building.  From there we had access to the Ice Palace, we could go skiing.....  Finally we were on the snow...it was freezing!! but one of my dreams had come true..i had seen and touched the snow for the first time! It was such a beautiful sensation though I admit that I felt so cold that I couldn't feel my hands...it was as if I had indeed frozen up!!   After this incredible feeling, we went to the restaurant..we were really famished especially with the cold air that had surrounded us...Hours later we were back again at the hotel feeling happy after our experience.

The days passed quickly....however we visited many places!! We had the opportunity to visit Lucerne, which is very famous for it's bridge all decorated with flowers.  We also visited Bern - the capital city.  It was so beautiful!!  The buildings' architecture is indeed beautiful and here, like Interlaken, all the houses and streets were decorated with flowers.

On another day, we visited St. Beautus Caves.  Inside the caves we saw many stalactites and stalagmites.  A particular stallectite had the form of Our Lady with Jesus.  It was so nice!!  Several thousand years ago troglodytes made their dwellings. Legend has it that this monumental natural construction, fashioned over millions of years, served St. Beatus as a safe refuge in the 6th Century. Thanks to the easy paths and lighting to the depth of 1000 m, the caves are accessible to everyone.  We really had fun here!!
