Hello People!!

I shall start first by telling you something about myself.  My name is Joanne.  I graduated last november. I read a B.Ed (Hons) degree in French and Maltese.  Languages have always been my favourite subjects and I think it is really fascinating to go to other countries and be able to communicate with other people with their own native language.  As regards to my choice of becoming a teacher, I have always liked passing on what I know to others and I really like children, thus this course enabled me to fulfill one of my dreams, i.e. of teaching others and obviously spending time with children. So, still interested in reading or already bored? hhehe :) hope not!!  So.......

I'm Maltese and I'm proud of it!!  I live at Blata l-Bajda and I form part of a family of four.  I have an elder sister who is twenty seven years old.  My sister is an assistant financial controler whilst my parents are both teachers.  As regards to my education, I attended St. Joseph School Blata l-Bajda from pre-grade till Form 5.  Then I continued my studies at St. Aloysius Sixth Form, B'kara where I spent two wonderful years. I continued my studies at the University of Malta....and now I'm a teacher at St. Aloysius' College :)

Even though I'm very busy at work, I have many hobbies and I always try and find time to do many things.  That way I won't get bored and as one knows, a mixture is always the best!! I really believe that one has to find time to relax and enjoy his/her own interests.  That way there will be a balance between working and having fun.

Some of my interests include reading, watching television, going to the cinema, listening to music, singing, travelling, playing tennis, basketball, swimming, going on hikes etc

Here is something about each hobby :)

Reading

Reading has always been one of my hobbies since I was a little girl.  My favourite books as a child were those written by Enid Blyton.  One of my favourite books was "The Faraway Tree".  Then obviously I used to like books which are very well-known such as Cindirella, Beauty and The Beast, Rapunzel etc.  As I grew older, I started reading Nancy Drew Books written by Carolyn Keene.  These are detective stories and they are really interesting.  Nowadays, I read any book which concerns adventure, mystery, magic....but I must surely not forget to mention my F A V O U R I T E book....any idea?  I guess some of my friends who are reading this, already know the answer!!!!   Well i won't let you be curious any more....my favourite books are those about HARRY POTTER!! I know that many people think that they are for young children, but in my opinion they are enjoyed by everyone.  So if you're one of those who think that Harry Potter is addressed for young children, go and read one now and i'm sure that you'll change your idea!!  I've read all the Harry Potter books twice and I've watched the video for about ten times.  It's amazing!!!

Watching television

Well I guess that many of you have this hobby, but believe it or not, it's not that I find much time to watch television since I have many many interests.  But I always find time to watch some programme or cartoons.  Yes cartoons!!! I'm an anime fan!!  I still like watching cartoons and I'm not shy to say it.  My favourite cartoons are:

Sailor Moon

Piccoli Problemi Di Cuore

Un fiocco per sogniare, un fiocco per cambiare

E un po di magia per Terry e Meggy

Holly e Benji

Mila e Shiro

and many others!!!

Going to the cinema

Going to the cinema has always been one of my hobbies.  I like watching Action Movies such as Armageddon, films about magic such as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings etc.  My favourite films are those which I have mentioned and also Pearl Harbor, Sixth Sense, The Mummy, Notting Hill, Spider Man (though i didn't like the ending!!) and many others!!

Listening to Music

Well this is surely a hobby which I find time for every single day!!  I surely can't live without music.  I like listening mostly to pop music and my favourite group is Westlife.  I also like listening to Classical Music

Singing

Singing has always been one of my hobbies.  I started singing in a choir since I was a young child.  Then I always took part in singing whenever we had a concert at school.  I then formed part of the St. Aloysius Sixth Form choir where we prepared for many activities such as singing for Prize-Day, the Midnight Mass, the Annual and Popular Soiree, the Easter Celebrations and also The Musico Literary Evening.  I also sang at University during the Easter Celebrations and this year I'm also taking part in Voices Xtraordinaire.  It's really and absolutely great!!!

Travelling

As the saying says, Travel Broadens the Mind and I really agree with it.  Travelling has indeed given me pleasure and also made me learn and appreciate other countries and the different cultures.  I have visited many countries such as Italy, Sicily, France, Lourdes, England, Switzerland, Germany, Austria,  Prague.  They are all wonderful countries and places and it's really a hassle for me trying to decide which country I liked most!!  However one of my favourites is surely France.  I visited Paris and Eurodisney and they're really amazing. No words can explain the happiness I felt at Eurodisney!!  I hope to continue travelling in order to continue seeing the beauty and wonders of the world.

Playing tennis, basketball and swimming

Sports...I just love sports!!! Playing tennis and basketball are my favourite sports.  I learnt to play tennis about six years ago and since then I practiced this sport often especially during my sixth form years.  I also took tennis as an extra curricular credit at university and it was great!

I started enjoying to play basketball since I attended Sixth Form.  I used to play during every single free lesson!!  Through playing basketball I also made many new friends and I really believe that with sports one can make a great number of friends!  At university, I also had the chance to practice basketball during the last two months of my first year.  I really had fun!

Swimming is also one of my hobbies but funnily enough I don't go swimming much!! It's because during the Summer holidays I work in the morning ( I teach english to foreign students) and by the time I get home I will be tired and end up sleeping during the afternoon!!

Going on hikes

Well I really like hiking but like swimming, it's not that I go to hikes a lot because they aren't organized frequently!!!!

My Work
During Summer

Well though school finishes at the end of June, I still do work during Summer as a teacher too since I really love teaching! :)

Well during Summer I teach English to foreign students.  I really like this job.  I like it a lot because it gives me the opportunity to meet many people and to make friends from many different countries.  It also helps me get to know other people's culture since I give the opportunity to all the students to explain in detail about their country.  It's a really amazing job!!
